The Headspace meditation app has worked wonders for me and my ability to focus and interrupt the negative thought patterns that have followed me for years now.

The Self-Esteem course I am currently taking is certainly no exception. I have been struggling with self-esteem issues since as far back as I can remember and there have been so many books, friends, ideas, philosophies, and the like that have pulled me from my negative thought patterns, and this course is the most recent remedy for self-doubt in that journey.

A simple yet profound idea presented to me in my mediation this morning was that of self-doubt needing fuel for its fire, and our very thoughts are that fuel.

Without fuel fire cannot burn, so the simple truth of the matter is by turning off your negative thoughts you are robbing your self-doubt and low self-esteem of the fuel it requires to keep you down.

This seems so simple, yet it struck me with such impact this morning that I felt compelled to journal about it, and now write about it here.

If you starve the self-doubt fire of its fuel by cutting them off at the source, it will lose its grip on your psyche. Meditation is hands down one of the best ways to do that.

Exercise, working towards a goal, reading uplifting books and blogs, can also do the same.

What makes meditation unique is that it allows you to build the resilience necessary to prevent these thoughts from entering your mind without distraction.

Exercise for example is a great way to distract yourself from your anger, frustration, self-doubt, etc. but meditation requires you to face it head-on as a last stand before it enters the temple of the mind.

If exercise and other forms of motivation for a better life are your mind’s army, meditation builds the walls around the empire of your mind. It is the blade you forge as a means to slay the dragons of your reality yourself.

Stop fueling the fire of self-doubt. Build the walls around your mind, protect yourself from the harm that your own mind can cause.

Instead fuel the fire of life, resilience, passion, and love.
